test post 2
The Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail is a proposed shared use bicycle and pedestrian facility running through Edina, generally from the north west corner to the south east corner of the city. This facility would provide a link to existing and planned regional bicycle routes including the Cedar Lake Regional LRT Trail and to the adjacent communities of Hopkins, Richfield and Bloomington. The Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail, as currently proposed, would consist of a combination of segments running along both surface roadways and public park land. This Plan recommends avoiding the use of side-paths for trail segments along roadways in favor of on-road bicycle lanes or cycle tracks (see appendix) in some cases for cyclists and sidewalks for pedestrians. (See recommended treatments for Interlachen Boulevard as example.)
This proposed facility passes through or near residential neighborhoods, industrial areas, commercial nodes and public parks offering a connection to important destinations throughout the city of Edina. Functioning in concert with other routes proposed in this Plan, the Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail would be a part of a network allowing citizens improved access by bicycle to employment and commercial centers in Edina and adjoining communities while offering a safe and pleasant recreational space for bicyclists and pedestrians.
An additional benefit of the Nine Mile Creek Region Trail would be connecting the City of Edina to the Three Rivers Park District's regional system of parks and trails.
