Homebuyer education: "Home Stretch" workshops

Sign up today! If you are a first time homebuyer or it has been more than three years since you owned a home, please register for a Home Stretch workshop. DON’T get trapped with the wrong mortgage product, understand the documents you are signing, be prepared with the right questions when you are ready to meet with a lender or Realtor. The Home Stretch workshops will help you understand the ins and outs of buying a home.
We will help guide you through the process of understanding topics such as: how to qualify for mortgages, budgeting, where to find down-payment assistance funds, working with a realtor, home inspections, home maintenance, and foreclosure prevention.
What you can expect
We invite professionals from the housing industry to assist us with the workshops. This is a great opportunity to ask questions directly to: lenders, Realtors, and home inspectors. NeDA’s housing counselors are of course available throughout the sessions to answer any questions you may have or to schedule a one-on-one counseling session.
Workshop
The homebuyer education workshop series are 9 hours and the customer must complete the series in order to receive a completion certificate. Completion certificates are usually required by lenders who offer down payment and or closing cost assistance to first time home buyers. Each household receives a workshop manual.
There is a $35.00 fee per household for the workshop. We believe this is a small and wise investment which will prepare and inform you for long-term home ownership.
To register for a workshop call NeDA today at 651-292-0131 or check out the NeDA's Homebuyer Workshop calendar. If you do not find a date and time that meets your needs visit the Minnesota Homeownership Center's webpage at www.hocmn.org where you will find additional workshop sites.
